Who is El Epicúreo? El Epicúreo is an artisan bakery located in the heart of Cómpeta. Virginie, a French chef with over 20 years of culinary experience, founded the bakery. After closing her restaurant in France and moving with her family to Spain, Virginie wanted to reconnect with people. Her passion is cooking to share.

Who is El Epicúreo? It’s a place where we celebrate the pleasure of simple things: the aroma of freshly baked bread, a warm chat, and honest, flavourful products.

For over two years now, Virginie has been handcrafting a carefully chosen selection of breads and pastries. She offers slow-fermented sourdough loaves, crisp viennoiseries, traditional French pâtisserie, and savoury options. The menu features signature favourites every day, as well as new creations inspired by the seasons and the local market.

Fresh and Local Products

Every creation is made with fresh ingredients and, whenever possible, local and organic produce, with a focus on short supply chains. The only exception is the flour, which comes directly from the prestigious Minoterie de Trièves in France, chosen for its exceptional quality and flavour.

Virginie works alone from the early hours of the morning. She kneads, bakes, and serves her customers with great passion. Virginie has professional training in culinary arts and restaurant management (BEP-CAP, BTH-BTS) and began her journey at the age of 14. Virginie puts soul and excellence into every detail.

More than just a neighbourhood bakery

In addition to welcoming customers at the bakery, El Epicúreo partners with several local businesses. It makes artisan cookies for La Bodega, bakes daily bread for El Pilón restaurant, and supplies loaves to various B&Bs and rural accommodations around Cómpeta. These places trust the quality of El Epicúreo’s products to offer guests a genuine homemade breakfast.
